How Do You Know If a Detox Program is Right For You?
Detoxification is one of the body’s most complex and innate functions. It is the mechanism we have to eliminate and neutralize toxins that can be harmful to our health.
Air pollutants, pesticide residues on our foods, preservative filled foods with chemical additives, alcohol, smoking, medications, stress, poor nutrition and lack of exercise all contribute to our toxic load.
Even our normal metabolism creates by-products, which are toxic if not neutralized or excreted. All of this results in a toxic environment that our bodies must deal with on a daily basis.
This accumulation of toxins not only ruins our internal balance in the short term, but can lead to long-term deficiencies, inflammation, and eventually, chronic illness.
In today’s world we make up for a lack of energy with stimulants like caffeine that only worsen the problem in the long run. After the pick-me-up there is often an energy crash that leaves you feeling worse than when you started.
If you wake up in the morning feeling sluggish, and pretty much stay that way throughout the day this might be right for you.
Constipation is a sign that something isn’t right in your digestive system. If you’ve tried increasing your fiber intake and adjusting your diet with limited results, it could be your body telling you that it needs a cleansing…
I know for me this was a big one. Before it would be at LEAST a couple of days of not going to the bathroom before I would have a bowel movement and EVEN then it would not be the greatest. Now I go to the bathroom EVERY DAY. Sometimes twice a day and I am way HAPPIER and feel lighter.
Brain Fog/Unable to Focus
If you consistently find that in your natural state you lack the ability to focus and find yourself adrift in a mental fog, your body could be screaming at you to detoxify it.
We all know that when are feeling sad we go for the comfort foods. Your mood can change with the right or wrong meal, and eating foods that are low-quality can put you in or keep you in a depressed state.
Overweight/Trouble Losing Weight
When you detox the body you are bringing things back to square one rather than starting at a disadvantage. It not only helps the body shed body waste and lose weight it can also set the stage for healthy weight loss, a better diet and a more active lifestyle.
A little story about this segment right here is that I lost weight I wanted too but not in the area of where I was trying to target; which was my tummy. It wasn’t until I detoxed that I lost the weight; I will remind you that EVERYONE is different. But what is so great about this is that I got to see where my intolerances were. Before I would eat so many different types of meals during the day that it was hard for me to pinpoint where my struggles were. Now I am much more mindful with what I am putting in my body that where once my struggle was is no longer there!
I am sure that most of us know what it’s like to have a terrible sleep, tossing and turning as your sleep cycle is disrupted. Melatonin signals the body for sleep, but a toxic body can reduce the amount of melatonin that is released, which can start a downward spiral when it comes to getting natural, restful sleep.
Sleeping in general is hard for me sometimes especially life as an entrepreneur but luckily since my shift of trying to have much more control on my eating habits and digestive system I can honestly say that my sleep is way better than ever. EVEN with a busy brain! I use to be up 4-5 times a night or have broken sleep because of my busy brain or just really restless. I did not know why until I started making changes to my bad habits.
If we lived in a perfect world then we would not need prescription drugs to help with our sexual organs. Our sexual organs are the same as any other organ, and their proper function can turn upside down when there is too many toxins in the body.
The source of some headaches is easy to identify, either from a stressful day or being around a lot of noise. But if you suffer from regular headaches with no obvious cause it may be just the time for a detox.
A headache is a pretty reliable way for your body to tell you that something isn’t right. It gets your attention and can bring your world to standstill if it’s bad enough.
Do you wake up in the morning feeling sore and stiff even though you didn’t do anything the previous day to justify feeling that way?
When you have toxins in the body you are more likely to suffer from inflammation because our foods are higher in fats and sodium as well as starches. If we are not moving around a lot the starches turn into glucose which can add to the inflammation.
Skin Problems/Allergic Reactions
Keep in mind is that a side effect of doing a detox is often rashes and other skin problems, especially if many toxins are being released. However, do not worry this will subside in time. Your body is going through a cleanse, kind of like your first skin care product. Sometimes you will get pimples right away because your skin is not use to the product and has to fight with impurities going on with your largest organ.
How a Detox Helps: A detox works at the source of the problem to demolish the body of toxins that can resort to rashes, outbreaks, and allergic reactions on the skin.
If any of this resonated with you then let’s do this together to focus on YOUR health. Start to take control of your body to improve how your body functions (mind, body, and/or spirit)If you are tired, having trouble sleeping and have anxiety or depression; this might be your kickstart to feeling better and ready to take on the world.
